About the Artist

What's My WHY?

I create art to answer my soul.

  • Oil Painting builds my confidence and  curiosity
  • Abstract Paining is the external representation of my internal communication and connection to soul
  • Collage allows me to use my humour and frustrations in a healthy and expressive manner

Video Interview with Morinville Online

As a child, I  was hyperactive.  Brain, body and mouth always on the move. I  had experiences with spirit. One particular incident was a visit from a great aunt moments after her passing. "I remember seeing Aunty Nell over my bed and me thinking how odd it was because I didn't like her. She said to me that shocking news will come in the morning but I was to tell my mom that everything is all right." Moments after just telling my Mom that "things are all right" my mom received a phone call that Aunty Nell had passed away in the night. That was the moment when I realized I "knew" things most people didn't.

After graduating high school, I started to attend meditation classes and worked on developing my intuition.   I had another particularly moving encounter with spirit. It was the exact push I needed. My communication with spirit and the universe was open and I started to trust guidance with positive results. In 2005 I became a natural health practitioner and massage therapist.  My business at the time was called Complementary Wellness.  In 2009 I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or more commonly known as Lupus. Unable to continue my alternative health practice I closed my doors in 2010. My health declined over the next couple years. I ended up having multiple trans ischemic attacks (TIA), and one stroke that left me with some peripheral blindness. I was fortunate to have found a great team of health professionals to help me on the road of managing this chronic illness.

While recovering from my health issues, my grandmother was needing full time care. I was able to assist my family by helping stay with her every other week, taking turns with other family members.  This was a gift from the universe. My grandmother and I got to really know each other before her passing.  It was because of her I decided to go through my Bob Ross instructor training program. I had other inspiration too. My godfather,  Ed Martyniuk the TV host of Beautiful Freestyle Oil Painting on Shaw Cable, was starting to decline in health and I thought "What better way for me to reinvent myself than learning a new skill and honouring my loving family."

I attended the Bob Ross landscape instructor training program in New Smyrna Beach, Florida in 2014. Painting has been extremely therapeutic for me.  I have joined art clubs in Sturgeon County, Alberta. Art clubs offer great opportunities for learning new art skills and mentally inspiring me as an artist.

I've decided to honour myself by naming my business Indigo Child Studio. It allows me to express myself in a traditional sense with the oil painting but also allows me to express my connection with spirit.  If you'd like to learn more about indigo children (https://lonerwolf.com/indigo-child/).
